The Listed mile was run and won in track record time of 1:33.59 by the deep Southern visitor Tommy Tucker. The 7yo gelding was winning his tenth race today after settling down fifth on his own and then spearing between runners at the 200m to grab the front at the 100m. He is a versatile type having won on all types of footing. Please Release Me at $50 a win ran on solidly down the outer for second from worse than midfield after moving forward deep across the top. Kings Pal at $47 ran home well centre track for third after being sixth or seventh the inner then working off across the top. Madam Victoria disappointed for one of her ability in finishing fourth after getting a good sit handy the outer and reaching second at the 200m. The mare was swamped the final 20m and did not produce her usual sharp ping the run home. Another Coup the favourite was tardy and settled down last before running home strongly way too late. My Chino and El Chico battled away as did Miss Alice but none of them ever looked a serious chance on settling down. The fast pace setting leader Big Hoss and the runner that sat outside him in Dr Dee Bee not surprisingly punctured the run home to finish second last and third last respectively. Morena was outclassed and finished last. The next up winner out of the race looks to be Another Coup but she cannot keep giving away such big starts on settling down.
