Age: 3yo Sex: F Type: OPEN

This Listed 3yo filly only mile held on a bog Riccarton track saw the North Island trained runners dominate in finishing first, third, fourth and fifth with Secret Allure an easy victor. The winners and where they turning for home in race order were fourth (six-off the inside and length and a half from the leader), sixth (three-off the inside and three lengths from the leader), seventh (seven-off the inside and two and a half lengths from the leader), third (ten-off the inside and half a length from the leader), third (six-off the inside and half a length from the leader), fifth (fifteen-off the inside and four lengths from the leader), second (ten-off the inside and four lengths from the leader), ninth (last) and (ten-off the inside and two and a half lengths from the leader) and led (eight-off the inside and a length clear). Secret Allure loved the heavy footing and after settling down in the rear duo the inner the filly worked off and came between runners across the top and then swam though quickly fourth before the home turn. She turned for home second albeit four lengths from the clear leader Emily Margaret and set out after her and overhauled the clear favourite at the 150m then drew out to score by more than a length and three-quarters in 1:40.39. The time was the best of the day at a mile and superior to the following race, a Listed Open Handicap that clocked 1:40.47, which is a relevant tick. It was her fourth win in fifteen starts and now she has two Listed wins and a G3 win, so likes the Blacktype races and rain-affected footing clearly. Emily Margaret sped to the lead early and had nothing trying to apply any pressure but surprisingly her rider let the filly roll midrace to be five lengths clear and still had a four length lead turning for home. The tear-away tactic did not work but she held second by a big margin back to the third finisher in Our Hail Mary that came from well back and wide. She sustained her finish to be seventh turning in and fifth at the 200m then got third on the post and that vital Blacktype placing. Platinum Rapper, the stablemate of the winner, settled back then moved into eighth midrace before going through to fifth across the top to the home turn. She reached third at the 200m and lost that placing right on the line. Miss Valencia after blundering the start and being clearly last away, so disregard the commentator in the replays saying there was a perfect start as that simply did not happen in this Listed event. The filly settled down last but improved through eighth across the top and got into sixth turning for home before fighting on for a distant fifth. Miss Curious settled well back and was in fact last and wide midrace only to be seen running on the deepest. Mohaka was a tad tardy then recovered through to be fourth wide before being third wide midrace until the home turn. She was fourth at the 200m and fifth at the 100m but the effort told though she battled on okay all things considered and needs better footing to show her true worth. The rest came home beaten over fourteen lengths and up to almost twenty-five lengths and were either hopeless in the wet or outclassed or both. The first two home Secret Allure and Emily Margaret were superior to these by a big margin though this is wet track form today so there is an element of caution required. Secret Allure however has shown on top of the ground form back in the Spring when fourth here at G1ovewr a mile and Emily Margaret ran seventh that day and was over two lengths behind at the line. The margin between them today is a little less here on vastly different footing showing that both fillies have either improved at an almost identical amount or have stayed the same.
