The big mare Tie Me Down form reversed her last start flop to win this Listed feature with a strong performance in a solidly run race. The 4yo mare had failed to beat one home at Listed level prior over a mile against all comers but today won in 1:34.73 versus her own sex only. She was handy the outer and chasing a tearaway leader across the top to the home turn so had a target to haul in then overtake and that may have got her concentrating properly. The 4yo mare by Pins was winning her fifth start today from seven outings and clearly has more success in store. She should run middle distance too and with her size will not be bullied in a race either. The runner up was a strong closing Arrow In The Sand and this strongly built mare has some scope too being just a two-win galloper at this stage. Waikaha fought well for third after having every chance while the clear leader from the 800m to the home turn in Moozoon was swamped late into fourth. She may have gone a bit fast for too long as only caught the final 100m. The stablemates Spitfire Lady and The Last Shower ran okay with the former clearly superior. Elusive Tracy disputed the early pace and was disappointing so may need a more rain-affected track to stretch out properly. The field was not big but the pair of 4yo mares that filled the first two spots have scope for sure with Tie Me Down a likely Group mare and Arrow In The Sand sure to go through to Open Class. Waikaha and Moozoon will win several more times this season and next if they race on while Spitfire Lady could win a handicap of note down on the minimum this season. The Last Shower at least showed today she may be gradually on the way back as when right does have ability.
