This Prestige Hurdle (3400m) saw a form reversal winner in Zedeedudadeeko with the rising 10yo gelding scoring fifth up this campaign. The mudlark had run poorly in four runs prior to today and had in fact pulled up last start but when in the zone he can stay and swim and leap rather well. He won the Great Northern Hurdle (4190m) last Spring is very good on his best days but as shown in extremes ran last in this race a year ago. Zedeedudadeeko settled down last then looped the field a lap out to sit second the outer before applying some heat a long way from home. After taking the lead turning for home the result was never in doubt with the two length win seeing 4:23.25 being clocked for his fourth hurdle win and overall seventh victory from forty-seven starts. Game Percy ran on gamely for second after settling back then improving closer in across the top. Kipkeino after racing handy fought well for third while Second Innings was a very distant fourth just ahead of El Corby and the leader The Shackler. The latter with clear topweight once taken on down the backstraight punctured when headed. The other two finishers Pukeake Sam and Thatz David got beaten out of sight being sixty-five plus to seventy-five plus lengths away at the line. Iffitel after racing third drifted then hit a fence hard and dropped out sharply just over a 1000m from home before being pulled up. This was a testing Hurdle with the footing energy sapping and the winner while impossible to follow and a massive form reversal today clearly showed who was the best stayer, mudder and jumper on the day.
