Cawbourne Magic drawn in heat one will face litter sister Cawbourne Roses who won impressively at Gosford recently over the 603 metre distance in preparation for this Saturday nights heat. Cawbourne Magic the black and white dog of champion sire Fernando Bale has been in pristine form winning the Newcastle Cup Final and recently over an unsuitable 520 metres at Wentworth Park.

In winning at Wentworth Park over the 520 metres Cawbourne Magic showed his versatility and ability to win regardless of distance. Bandit Jane is an interesting runner in the heat having her first attempt over 720 metres. She is the current Dapto 600 metre track record holder having recently run 34.17 to set the track record and trained by Jodie Lord also.

Chris O' Brien was extremely happy with Cawbourne Roses and her run at Gosford. She is a maturing type who has taken a little longer than Cawbourne Magic to reach metropolitan grade but she is a work in progress. And she will only improve over the coming weeks as she takes on the staying caper.

Heat two on Saturday night sees Bold Trease winner Stagger Out Lee drawn nicely in box two, her current form has been slightly dissapointing since winning the Bold Trease. Though it's fair to say that both her heat and final run in the Newcastle Cup seemed to be extremely unlucky.Faced with interference on both occasions she was unlucky not to finish closer both times.

She will face stiff opposition from improving stayer Osprey Storm trained by Angela Langton. The black dog actually beat Stagger Out Lee back in late December at The Meadows in a 4th and 5th grade over the distance. Osprey Storm draws the coveted one box and may allow the hulking 36kg dog to throw his weight around in the run to the first turn.

The intersting runner in the field is the lightly raced and extremely talented Ritza Piper. Having only 11 starts for 6 wins and 2 seconds she is the smokey of the field yet least experienced runner of the field. She has a very good personal best at Wentworth Park of 41.88. The quickest winning time of any other runner in the field.
