Wentworth Park Tips and Selections for Friday 5th April

3 minute read

Nine heats of The Ultra Sense and Two heats of the GRNSW Masters series await us Friday night at Wentworth Park and what might also be awaiting us is the impending downpour of rain expected in Sydney over the next two to three days which will add to the scenario of finding winners.

Race 3 Ultra Sense Heat Three - Number 4  Nangar Gypsy @ $2.30 N.S.W TAB Fixed Odds

Trained by Dennis Barnes of Cudal Nangar Gypsy has won 11 of her 28 career starts with 4 of those wins from 8 starts here at Wentworth Park. Her 29.68 personal best here holds up well against her opposition in this race and this known front running daughter of Aston Dee Bee will be in this for a long way.

Her last start 6th here in a heat of The Golden Easter Egg (Group One) should be forgiven as she drew poorly in box 5 and bundled the start. The heat was stacked with talent with the likes of Zipping Remus,Superstar Ethics and Quantifiable. She drops back to fifth grade and although she will face stiff opposition from First Lady drawn in box two if she jumps like she normally does she will prove extremely hard to run down.

Race 6 Ultra Sense Heat Six - Number 1 Not Without @ $1.60 N.S.W TAB Fixed Odds

Putting aside for a moment the potential of Not Without is the background story of legendary trainer Jane Curruthers trainer of champion greyhound Rapid Journey. Curruthers has stamped her return and Not Without has had 11 starts for 7 wins and 3 minor placings. He faced a massive acid test last week when running into the powerful and gifted Zipping Megatron in a heat of the Golden Easter Egg giving away age and experience yet running a fantastic second.

This is an enourmous drop in grade from that run last week and he does not meet any greyhound in this field that holds the same ability as Zipping Megatron. Not Without has a personal best here of 29.75 at Wentworth Park and that time should see him winning this race. From three starts off box one he has won two and was placed second here last week the winner going a flying 29.45 best of night. He should just be winning.

Race 11 GRNSW Masters Heat Two - Number 2 Zipping Conway @ $2.70 N.S.W TAB Fixed Odds

In a race designed for greyhounds over four years of age Zipping Conway turns up in this heat having been sparingly raced throughout his career with only 28 starts for 13 wins and another 10 minor placings. Most of his opponents have had in excess of 70 starts individually. His career having been managed to perfection considering he spent some 15 months away from the track after winning a 400 metre Bulli race in very quick time before his long awaited return.

6 of his 13 wins have all come from boxes 1-3 in his career and in preparation for this heat he beat Vencedor in a Masters race here at Wentworth Park on the 23rd of March running 29.72 when drawing poorly in box 8 .He meets Vencedor here again and is drawn better than his last start victory and although Vencedor is likely to be close to the lead the good draw in two should see him obtain cover into the first turn and he should prove too good for these.

It's a great nights racing ahead of us Friday night with the first race at 7.20pm and the last race eleven at 10.38pm. Good luck and good punting.
