Best Bets For Wentworth Park Wednesday 3rd April

3 minute read

The Wednesday night meeting has been hit heavily with scratchings ahead of the Golden Easter Egg Semi Finals. With that in mind we have scanned the fields after scratchings to find what we believe are the best bets on the 11 race card.

Race 1 Number 5 Paua Of Cinda @ 7.08pm Magic Maiden Heat 1 Fixed Odds $2.30 Sportsbet

Many of the maiden heats look very difficult on the basis of first starters and breeding tonight. However the first heat of the night looks a little easier than the others. Andy and Jodie Lord are astute trainers and would not be contesting these heats unless trial form had indicated any ability to run out a strong 520 metres.

Paua Of Cinda is by rising stud dog Shima Shine who continues to throw hard chasers and her mother Paua To Admit has produced some outstanding progeny from her past litters. The vacant four box is a massive advantage as it will give her room to move early on and her favorite tag in opening markets indicates she is forward in way of her trials.

With a clean break Paua To Cinda appears very hard to beat in this heat. If there is a danger it may come from box 8 in the shape of Zipping Maradona.

Race 7 Number 8 Tootsie Tears @ 9.05pm New Sensation Heat One Fixed Odds $1.65 Sportsbet

The price might be a bit narrow however Tootsie Tears this white bitch by Hooked On Scotch has been in excellent form in recent weeks showing her versatility to won over middle distance and sprint distances. Her current record stands at 12 starts for 10 wins with a personal best gallop of 29.64 here at Wentworth Park and winning 4 of her 5 starts here. That pb time happened to be off box 7 as well so the 8 box here proves no issue.

Overflow Beau has been scratched in the 7 box and Irinka Benji drawn in the 6 box is a very moderate beginner. Michael Ivers is an astute trainer and this breeding line is known for it's strength. Tootsie Tears should be making it win number 5 here at headquarters tonight.

Race 9 Number 7 Zipping Optimise @ 9.49pm New Sensation Heat Three Fixed Odds $3.90 Sportsbet

The obvious pick here in this race is the talented Good Odds Cobber. However at $1.45 he presents no value. With a small five dog field as much as the odds on pop will land in front the Jason Magri trained Zipping Optimise will certainly be stalking him somewhere down the back straight. He has a brilliant 29.39 personal best here at Wentworth Park and his record of 13 starts for 8 wins and 4 of those wins from 8 starts at Wentworth Park confirms his ability.

Magri has set the dog specifically for this series having tipped the dog out for a spell after a very convincing 29.66 win here in mid February when coming from a long way back. Being by Superior Panama he is bred to stick on and be strong and is well worth the gamble to knock off the short priced Good Odds Cobber.

He draws box 7 with a vacant box to his outside and also two vacant boxes to his inside. Which should allow him plenty of room to move.

That's our look at tonight's race card. Good luck and good punting.
