Amron All Class In Group One Harrison-Dawson

3 minute read

It may have taken a little while for Amron Boy to win another Group One after winning The Silver Chief in December last year, but he did so in amazing fashion to beat a quality field Thursday night at Sandown Park.

Trained By Brooke Ennis at Lara the son of Zambora Brockie stepped cleanly from box two and was chased gallantly by Dundee Smokey into the first turn and back straight. Down the back straight however Amron Boy showed all his class and strength as they swung for home and he demolished the field with a powerful run home for which he is so known for.

It was a real return to form after what appeared a few months of frustrating racing as Ennis battled a niggling problem in Amron Boy's back.Starting the $2.30 favorite in the event at no real stage did he give punters any concerns as he raced away to win in a fast 29.13 winning by just over 4 and a half lengths from the fast finishing Kai Bale ($16.80) and Dundee Smokey($6.00) in third who had gallantly matched Amron Boy for much of the race but faded in the run home.

The race win stretched Amron Boys prizemoney total out to a very respectable $596,200. Now a half million dollar winner in prize money. It would be remiss not to forget he finished a half head second to Wow She's Fast in The Phoenix and was beaten half a head in a heat of The Melbourne Cup. With that in mind his prize money could have well been in excess of well over a million dollars, perhaps even closer to the two million dollar mark if he had more luck in running.

For Brooke Ennis her well decorated training career continued. Amron Boy has been a special dog.The kennel having a good opinion of the dog from a young age. The question may now be asked as to whether or how Amron Boy comapres to champion chaser My Bro Fabio, Also trained by Ennis.

My Bro Fabio sadly passed away not long ago, the loss of his life saddened Ennis at the time. The champion chaser helped put them on the map as respected trainers. Amron Boy with two Group One wins on his career highlights must surely be up there with him. And being a son of Zambora Brockie. One would assume that a beckoning stud career is just around the corner.
