Flying Youngster Explicit Leaves No Stone Unturned In Time Honoured Temlee

3 minute read

Explicit the dazzling son of Bernardo lived up to all expectations on Saturday evening in The Group One Sportsbet Temlee. Not only did he take home a cool $100,000 but with it a breath taking run against some of the elite chasers in Australia. And done in a fashion of leading from box rise till the judge called a halt in a flying 29.63 for the 525 metre journey.

Explicit who only turned two years of age in January this year showed that no lack of maturity nor experience could hold him back in The Temlee. Having only had a meagre 13 race starts and overcoming box 6 in the process he added the Temlee to his resume which includes victory in The Group Three Great Chase worth $47,000 from back in October last year.

In the process of winning The Temlee Explicit took the scalps of Phoenix winner Schillaci , Silver Chief winner Mepunga Shine and recent $250,000 Gold Bullion winner Morton. Explicit burnt the sand in the run to the first turn as he ran a eye boggling 5 seconds flat to the first marker. To cross and lead was one thing however he showed tenacity beyond his years holding off kennelmate Alpha Zulu and Mepunga Shine.

With the $300,000 Sandgroper being run in early April in Western Australia many would assume that Explicit will be closely viewed by slot holders heading into the selection process. He has all the attributes to be a success at Cannington the home of greyhound racing in Western Australia. A track that requires early speed at box rise due to the tight nature of the track.

The Australian Cup has eluded Jason Thompson for all his training life. As Explicit heads into the semi's of The Australian Cup this Saturday he and Alpha Zulu will give Thompson a massive chance of breaking his duck. Whatever Explicit contests he is going to be very hard to beat as Saturday nights success in The Temlee extended his winning streak to 8 straight victories. An achievement that is near impossible when racing quality greyhounds week in week out.
