The son of Aussie Infrared has had some huge performances in his 31 start career having won 14 races. He was runner up in Group One races The Adelaide and Melbourne Cups and the Group Two Cranbourne Cup. Not to mention his big race breakthrough when winning last year's Group Three Sandown Shootout.

It will be a nostalgic return to home for Big Energy whom started his career racing at Cannington under the astuteful eye of Robert Westworth. And with this in mind track knowledge is a major factor as The Sandgroper will be run and won at the Cannington circuit. A track that Big Energy has previously posted a very quick 29.72 victory at. It's obvious with all these factors in play it was an easy selection for slot holder Mintbet to select the fawn dog powerhouse.

The Greenhough's who train Big Energy are not newcomers when it comes to slot holder racing having tasted previous success with champion sprinter Wow She's Fast in The Phoenix held in Victoria. They will leave no stone unturned in the lead up to the second running of The Sandgroper.

Three greyhounds have nowe been selected for The Sandgroper which forms part of The trilogy series put together by Western Austrlia racing featuring Harness and Horse Racing also. It is the only trilogy series in all of Austrlia and in its initial year last year was amassive success and gained much attention.

The other two slot holders for The Sandgroper are as follows. Punters HQ famously known for the ownership of champion Million Dollar chase winner She's A Pearl have selected rising youngster Explicit and TABtouch have gone with another rising talented youngser Morton. Both of which possess good early speed. Something that is seen as a major attribute due to the nature of the tight Cannington circuit.

The first running of The Sandgroper was won by none other than talented Western Australia chaser Crumble Monelli who showed explosive box speed to lead and never be headed.

Big Energy was expected to contest heats of the Perth Cup before contesting The Sandgroper on Thursday the 18th of April. It's unsure now as to when he will arrive in Western Australia.
