2024 PRIX SAINT-ALARY - RACE HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The Prix Saint-Alary is now a Group 2 race run under Set Weight conditions for three year old fillies usually at Longchamp conducted by France Galop.

The Prix Saint-Alary is run over 2000m. It was first run in 1960 and was won by La Motte.

The Prix Saint-Alary is basically a trial for the Prix de Diane (French Oaks). 12 have done the double with Laurens most recent in 2018.

It was downgraded to Group 2 in 2024.

It is named after Evremond de Saint-Alary who was breeder over many years.

When Longchamp was out of action for its huge redevelopment, the race was run at Deauville in 2016 and 2017.

Most wins as a jockey is by Freddy Head with nine while leading trainer is with Andre Fabre with eight victories.

We Are lost the 2014 edition on a positive swab in a controversial issue relating to an illness.

The last non-French winner was Above The Curve in 2022 for Joseph O'Brien.

It was run at Chantilly in 2020 due to the restrictions imposed by the coronavirus outbreak.

The Prix Saint-Alary was worth €130,000 in 2024.

The 2023 Prix Saint-Alary was won by Jannah Rose from Elusive Princess and Crown Princesse.
