Michael Tubman purchased Chance Bye at the 2009 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney, outlaying just $15,000 for the filly after she was passed in.

The filly was backed from $25 into $4 on debut in winning the $250,000 Inglis Nursery at Randwick before taking out the $251,000 Inglis Classic at Rosehill at start number two.

Chance Bye made it a hat-trick by capturing the $203,000 Silver Slipper at Rosehill, with Kathy O'Hara aboard on each occasion. The filly finished her nine-start career with prizemoney of over $540,000.

"I hadn't planned to attend the yearling sale but had nothing better to do and was happy to keep a mate company on the two-hour drive into the big smoke," Tubman remarked after purchasing Chance Bye.

Tubman also prepared Chance Bye's daughter Bye See who won three races (Randwick, Rosehill and Hawkesbury) and Old Man Sam ( (three wins at Kembla and one at Hawkesbury).

Kathy O'Hara said: "Rest in peace Michael Tubman - a great man and great trainer. You'll always hold a special place in my heart. x"
