Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Ballarat, Northam and Thangool.
BALLARAT SYNTHETIC: RACE 6 @ 3:30 PMMY BOY BIRMINGHAM (2) comes across from Adelaide where he has contested stronger races this prep. Was caught deep last time so worked to the front then weakened out of the placings over this trip in a Bm82 at Morphettville. Outstanding performer on this surface who scored here at the same stage last prep. Perfectly placed to make it five wins from 10 career runs. The speedy BLACK BOLT (3) led and gave a kick before being swamped and finishing fifth last time out over today's journey at Pakenham. Up a little in class and new to the all-weather but still presents a threat. COMTE (6) and HAMSLETTE (11) were 1-2 in a Bm64 over 1350m at Donald a month ago. Both found the line well on that occasion and should measure up here, with Comte bringing superior all-weather form to the table.
SELECTIONS: Good race but very keen on #2 My Boy Birmingham.

NORTHAM: RACE 2 @ 12:18 PM
SENORITA DOROTEA (7) resumes from a spell and showed she is ready to fire by winning a recent trial at Lark over 1000m. Has had just the two raceday starts and placed second in both of those runs. The one to beat. CAPITAL FLIGHT (3) ran sixth last start at Belmont after racing keenly throughout the race, has place prospects if he can settle better today. SAINTLY CITY (1) has two placings from four runs this prep but faded to finish six lengths off the winner here last start when racing up on the speed. Each-way chance. FRENCH CHILL (9) first starter who can surprise following a recent second at the Belmont trials. Watch the money on this runner to get a better guide.

THANGOOL: RACE 2 @ 1:35 PM
SHALUNA (12) improved quickly from her first up performance by producing a brave effort for third last time out, she was trapped wide that day and will be peaking third up. The experienced hoop Nathan Day takes over the reins and she will be given every chance to break her maiden status. RUNINSCARED (11) ran on nicely to place third fresh up and will be much improved by that effort. She has more upside than most in this and shouldn't be a maiden for long. Watch closely. ADAM'S APPLE (1) has had a freshen up since last racing, where he finished runner up at long odds and if not in need of the outing then he should be very hard to beat against slightly easier opposition. QWICK (2) has been thereabouts lately, mixing his runs at the picnic and tote meetings. He has a good placed record on this course and should be thereabouts. Include in all multiples.
