Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for December 2.
Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Rosehill, Caufield, Doomben, Morphettville Parks and Ascot.
ROSEHILL: RACE 3 @ 1:30 PM
STATE OF AMERICA (10) handy staying gelding who was anchored with the 59.5kg when a fighting fourth over 1800m at this track on November 15. Gets the right run again and will take plenty of stopping with the 4kg weight drop. Looks a genuine top-three contender. UNANIMOUS (2) scored a long overdue victory last Saturday in the heavy (8) going when a nose winner over 2000m at Kembla Grange. Gets the right conditions again and should hold a forward position. TOESONTHENOSE (8) came off his good run in the Four Pillars two back with a swooping 2 len victory at Newcastle over 1600m in easier company on November 18. Bred to get the trip and Rawiller keeps the ride from the inside draw.

CAULFIELD: RACE 6 @ 3:00 PM
VILANA (2) looks much better placed here. He carried top weight in the G1 Sir Rupert Clarke stakes and tried hard, beaten under 4 lengths. Finds a very winnable weight-for-age race here and if he's anywhere near his best, he should be winning. THE INFERNO (1) struggled in the Rupert Clarke but had been coming along nicely prior. With a more even track, he'll be running on strongly. CROSSHAVEN (4) was well supported in the Rupert Clarke but struggled. He won this race last year and his fresh run was excellent. Can bounce back. KING MAGNUS (3) was sound first up and can improve but did have a minor setback last week. UNUSUAL CULTURE (10) hit the line well first up and is better suited to this trip.
SELECTIONS: Vilana to win.
DOOMBEN: RACE 10 @ 5:40 PM
MANHOOD (3) has had two unplaced runs since a break but is building nicely. He'll enjoy returning to a venue where he is yet to miss a place and races well third up so can peak with the aid of a low draw. THE FACE (13) is going great guns with back-to-back wins. Led throughout last start to score a 2.3 length win over 1200m at Sunshine Coast. Should run well again. STARZAM (12) was a beaten favourite last time but has claims off the fresh win two back.
SELECTIONS: Manhood to show his best third up.
MORPHETTVILLE PARKS: RACE 5 @ 2:02 PM
SHOOTOOSE (6) followed up his eye-catching first-up effort with a solid win last start on the main track. Open to further improvement at this stage of the prep but doesn't have to do much differently to be right in the thick of it. HALLSTATT (7) was denied a head here last start after running into the frame fresh. Tougher this time but gets weight relief and winning rider Lachlan Neindorf stays aboard. Can give this a big shake. HOPE AT HAND (4) is a talented type on her day and may have just needed the two runs. Expecting a big effort third up. BIG OPTION (1) let down nicely to record a handy win two back at Horsham but wasn't as good at Bordertown. Gets some weight off and is drawn well. In the mix.
SELECTIONS: Siding with Shootoose to win again.
ASCOT: RACE 4 @ 2:05 PM
We'll get a good guide to the form of DEMOLISH (6) in Race 2 as he ran on strongly to just miss last start. Wide draw doesn't matter as he usually settles back anyway and the rise in trip can see him go to another level. MOUNTAIN ASH (7) was narrowly beaten as favourite here a fortnight ago when jumping favourite over the mile. Should roll across and lead once again with 2kg coming off for Luke Campbell. Going along nicely and can go one better this time. HOLY ENCHANTMENT (5) resumed with a good win when running over the top of Mountain Ash and should strip fitter for that effort. Draws nicely and is sure to be on a Perth Cup path once more. Wouldn't surprise to see him go back-to-back. MEGAMI (11) stuck on well last time out and draws the best gate she's seen for some time. Drops in weight and can race into the finish. DESENNEA (8) is chasing the hat-trick and must be included.
SELECTIONS: Siding with Demolish.
