Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for May 12.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Mudgee, Queanbeyan, Ballarat, Sunshine Coast Poly Track, Hobart and Kalgoorlie.
MUDGEE: RACE 7 @ 4:40 PM
DE FORERUNNER (2) has been very good at his last two starts and looks close to another win. Gets every chance to break through here. DESTINY'S BOUNTY (1) has struck top form with two wins on end including a nice effort at Orange. Just needs a bit of luck to be in the finish. DARPANO (13) has run back into form with a couple of placings on end. If she can hold that form she's an each-way hope. BARCOO RIVER (10) FEIRME PRINCE (9) are among the each-way hopes too.
SELECTIONS: De Forerunner to win.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Mudgee Computer Card.
QUEANBEYAN: RACE 3 @ 2:05 PM
FIRE AND GEMSTONE (3) progressive gelding who cleared out for a dominant 2.5 len victory over 1425m at Moruya on April 26. Up sharply in weight today but gets weight relief again. Has the upside to win again. MY ROCK SINGA (11) only the one win from 30 starts and will appreciate the drop in weight today. Stuck on well with the 57kg when fifth over 1600m at Queanbeyan on April 22. Can take a hand in the finish with the claim. HOWLING VICTORY (7) disappointing of late and the cross-over nose band goes on today. Wilted sharply when seventh over 1600m at Wagga on April 21. No surprise to see her figure in the finish. FACTORING PROFIT (6) has put together back-to-back placings and on the quick back-up. Sat on the speed when a gritty nose second over 1500m at Goulburn on May 7. Has solid wet track figures and the claim helps.
SELECTIONS: Fire And Gemstone to win.
BALLARAT: RACE 5 @ 3:00 PM
ALL SO CLEAR (4) was well beaten on resumption at Benalla but put in a much improved effort last start at this track and distance, running on well to grab second. That was his first defeat here with two other wins. Fitter again here and maps for a good run. Top pick. MURRAY FACTOR (7) has mixed his form since a first up win at Bendigo. He's good enough on his day and this isn't the strongest race. SUBRISING (8) appreciated the step up to 1400m here last time when second and should improve again out to a mile. Strong hope. MAKUSHA (3) has just been fair in two runs back from a spell but should be ready to show a bit more now.
SELECTIONS: All So Clear to win.
SUNSHINE COAST POLY: RACE 7 @ 4:15 PM
IOANE (5) was disappointing last time on the heavy in much stronger over further. Measure on the comfortable win here three back and the narrow miss on the course proper after. Maps for a soft run and the claim is handy. Rates to get back on track. ECHO HUNTER (10) has won and placed both starts this preparation with the latest here on the turf. Fitter and this is much easier. A chance if she can muster speed from the low barrier. BREAKING GROUND (1) missed a nose here last time this grade and the Claimer will give him every chance from the rails alley. PARCHEMIN (11) won his Maiden here 15 days ago and won't be far away.
SELECTIONS: With Ioane.
HOBART: RACE 6 @ 3:10 PM
THESPIAN WATERS (1) brings a picket fence and improved again winning here the latest. The longer sprint won't bother, and he can keep the ball rolling with average luck. SANDUAL (2) led and was beaten a whisker behind the above last time. Posted his best figure over 1400m and he will push over to the speed and give himself every chance. BLONDE STAR (10) has been busting to win in CL1s. Sits on the limit weight and can't be ruled out. WICKHAM LIGHT (6) is a lightly-raced improver presenting off a big Maiden win this distance when he led. Newitt sticks and fitter we're likely to see another ratings spike.
SELECTIONS: Sticking with Thespian Waters.
KALGOORLIE: RACE 4 @ 5:30 PM
ONEMOREFORLEO (7) ended up just 1.7L off the winner over 1200m last time out and steps out to a distance he's been successful at previously. Fiore makes the trip to ride, replacing the apprentice hoop and she has options from the alley. Has improvement to come and if he runs to expectations, he should be getting the job done. DANCE OF THUNDER (2) resumed on a winning not over 1300m here 17 days ago when running on from midfield. He rises in weight this time though and is drawn a little sticky out wide. He does boast a second-up win previously though and rates as the main danger. COUNTER DRIVE (1) finished just 0.6L behind Dance Of Thunder last start and meets him on better terms today. He's won 2/4 at this track and trip and is bound to go close once again. RED CADILLAC (3) has her hoof on the till and must be included on recent performances. SO LIKABLE (4) hits his peak third-up and is not to be discounted.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Onemoreforleo.
