Back to Randwick for what should be another hot, competitive day of racing.
Tricky little meeting with no features and it falls to a benchmark 78 over 1100m to provide the best of the day.
We're looking at Race 9 and I think the market has it slightly wrong. Time To Boogie is the favourite and I think deservedly so having progressed nicely last campaign but the ratings say there's almost no difference between he and Squad.
Squad is off a fairly long spell here and has been scratched once or twice but has found a nice race here and posted four highly competitive ratings in Melbourne last time in, his first preparation as a gelding.
His peak rating at Racing And Sports is 100 which came at Sale over the 1000m, which is just one pound shy of Time To Boogie's 101 over the Randwick 1200m.
Both resume here and I'd mark them much closer together in the market with Squad at $6 looking the bet in the race.
For the value play I'm going to the last and siding with Excelladus, very interestingly now with Joseph Pride, who we know is the best in the country with tried horses.
The horse is right up to 78 grade and goes very well fresh with 3 wins from 4 attempts. He met Contemporary last preparation and there was 0.1 lengths between them, with that horse equal favourite on Saturday.
Excelladus didn't have the best of luck in some decent races at the back end of last campaign but 1200m at Randwick fresh should suit and tipping he can get into the finish.
