Queensland Derby day at Eagle Farm on Saturday where the Chris Waller juggernaut looks set to continue with leading contenders across seven of the nine strong race card.

Chief among them is Yasuke in Race 1, Kukeracha and Otyrar in Race 3, Kovalica and Special Swey in Race 7 and Brookspire in the last event.

YASUKE is a promising Maurice colt who will relish the sharp drop in grade after having a chequered run when an unlucky seventh in the Rough Habit Plate Group 3 (2000m) at Doomben two weeks ago.

From the inside gate today, he should be able to stalk the speed on the limit weight and prove hard to hold out.

Good fresh mare BROOKSPIRE can bookend the meeting for Waller when she contests the Magic Millions Coughlan Stakes (1200m).

The daughter of Hinchinbrook went out a winner defeating Kiku and Me Me Lagarde in good style on Magic Millions day in a fillies and mares race last January (1300m) at the Gold Coast. She finds a nice race to kick off her Queensland campaign today.

The booking of James McDonald and two sound barrier trials should see Brookspire hard to stop from an inside gate.
