Midweek racing from Randwick Kensington and Pakenham Synthetic and we’ve got a horse to follow from each meeting.
Randwick Kensington Race 3- City Of Lights
This exceptionally bred mare, a half to Winx by Deep Impact out of Vegas Showgirl, made her debut for the Joe Pride stable in one of the stronger midweek fillies and mares benchmark 72's and I thought she ran very well. She's only had two starts to date and won over 1418m on debut, with the 1250m looking far too sharp here. She hit the line well behind some smart types and realistically, off her breeding, she wants 2000m and beyond. Next start at 1400m and especially third up at a mile, trust Pride to pick the right race for her and I think she'll be winning soon.
Pakenham Synthetic Race 2- Quickster
Nice debut from this Rosemont Stud owned, Peter G Moody & Katherine Coleman trained filly. By Shamus Award, she settled last in the field and made an early, wide run around the turn while the winner got a more economical run just behind the speed. She put in a dive late but couldn't quite reel him in but I don't think there's much doubting she was the run of the race. Her breeding suggests she'll get further than the 1200m and if she finds a similar sort of maiden over 1400m next start she can win.
