The favourite Mabel Grace began well and settled one out and one back following a moderate pace (first 800 49.81). She moved up on straightening but took a while to wind-up with her 62kgs top weight in the sprint home (last 600m 34.67) but she demonstrated her class, drawing to a strong half length win at the post. Red Hot Sax raced outside the leader (Dark Rock), took the lead at the 300m but could not hold of the winner despite having an 8kgs advantage to finish second. Miss Tipsy Topsy was last in the eight-horse field to the home turn. She angled for a run between runners mid-stretch and ran on nicely, late, for a good third. *ANZ
