Team Hawkes-trained three-year-old Inference did well in scoring a good first-up win here, his second win in three starts to date. He did not show any early pace and settled in seventh place, on the rails, before improving (between runners) rounding the home turn. He took a split to hit the front at the 200m and then fought back to score a good win from his older opposition.
