Jean Dubois-trained colt Aylmerton staged a promising effort in winning here on debut. He settled in a good spot, third on the rails, travelling well. He switched across heels on straightening, challenged strongly on passing the 100m and then went on to score comfortably. He looks suited to further and appears a colt with a good future. Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained filly Bold Arial raced outside the leader (I’m So Sweet), challenged on turning for home, got to the front at the 50m and then held on well for second, while Team Hawkes-trained filly I’m So Sweet showed good pace and after leading until the 100m battled on nicely for third in a sound effort at her second race start. Betting: $10.00, $4.30, $5.00.
