Winta Chiller progressed from an easy fillies’ maiden win at Werribee to take out his event. She was fifth on the rails most of the way to the 600m before switching out rounding the home turn and getting a nice run through at the 200m. She then finished nicely for a sound win. Hai Lil was near last on the rails to the turn but she got a great inside run that took her into a challenging position at the 100m. She fought gamely to the line for a good second. Are There Any was eighth one off the rails to the home turn. She went out wide passing the 200m to challenge at the 100m and fight on for a close third. The favourite Spending led, at a moderate pace (first 800 48.82) but didn’t find a lot over the final stages, weakening to finish fifth. *ANZ
