Puissance De Lune was eased at the start by Glen Boss and settled last on the rails in the eight-horse field. He was travelling well approaching the 600m and was about seven lengths from the leader. He was still last at the home turn, angled for a run between runners at the 200m and then sprinted quickly passing the 100m to score a soft win at the post. It was a most impressive first-up effort and he looks on target for a big spring campaign. Ajeeb began well and immediately led. He set a reasonable pace (first 800m 48.16) before grabbing a break nearing the home turn. He still held a clear lead at the 200m and only tired in the closing stages for a good second, beaten three quarter lengths. Second Effort travelled well in seventh place on the rails to the 600m. He got an inside run rounding the home turn and got through to second at the 200m. He then battled on well for a sound third, after having every chance. Pago Rock was a handy third, but trapped three wide without cover, to the home turn. He put in a run at the 200m and then fought on well for a sound fourth, beaten two lengths. Under The Eiffel came from second last at the 600m to get fifth while High Esteem was same most of the way and held on for sixth. Launay was handy on the rails in third spot to the turn but tied for seventh. *ANZ
