Lankan Rupee began quickly before Craig Newitt settled him in a good spot, fifth one off the rails, following a good speed up front. He was asked for his effort shortly after straightening and he dashed to the lead on passing the 200m. He then went on to score impressively by a length and a quarter in fast time – his fifth win from his last six starts. Classy sprinter Spirit Of Boom was just past midfield to the 600m. He got a split between runners at the 200m and came with his renowned late burst for a bold first-up second. Knoydart was slowly away and only had three horses behind him in the 18-horse field on settling. He was still well back at the turn, switched wide at the 300m and then ran on nicely for a good third. Three-year-old filly Gregers was about eighth, wide with cover, to the turn. She put in a run passing the 300m and battled on well for a good first-up fourth. Flamberge was fifth, putting up a sound effort after racing wide from his outside barrier (17) most of the way. Dystopia held on for sixth after being in a similar position most of the way with Shamal Wind seventh, she too held a similar place throughout. *ANZ
