Gregers began smartly and settled outside the leader (A Time For Julia) travelling comfortably and a reasonable tempo (first 600m 35.17). She challenged that mare strongly at the 200m, and after quite a battle, proved a bit too strong, winning nicely by a long neck at the post. A Time For Julia went straight to the lead, pinched a bit of a break at the 300m and then fought on gamely for a good second at her first run in April. Commanding Jewel settled in seventh place on the rails from her inside barrier. She improved nicely passing the 600m to be fifth on turning for home. She was switched back to the rails by Damien Oliver at the 150m to find clear running and rallied gamely for a close-up third, putting up a most encouraging run at her first start in almost 12 months. The Gai Waterhouse-trained mare Forever Loved raced in eighth place, between runners. She was blocked midway down the straight, got a split at the 150m and then finished nicely for a good first-up fourth beaten a length and three quarters. Dear Demi was back about ninth, three wide with cover. She switched deep at the home turn and kept running on well for a very good first-up fifth. She looks set for good preparation. *ANZ
