Dissident began quickly and then eased to enjoy a good run behind the leaders in third place. He moved up well approaching the 200m, dashed clear at the 100m and drew away for a most impressive two and a quarter lengths victory, in a good time of 1:22.72. He obviously has returned in top form and looks set for a great spring campaign. Sweet Idea crossed quickly from her wide barrier and soon took the lead. She was pressured a bit on passing the 800m but grabbed a clear break on turning for home, holding the lead to the 100m point. She then fought on to take second, putting up another very honest effort. Puissance De Lune was handily placed, fifth on the rails to the 600m before moving through to fourth on turning for home. He then fought on particularly well for a most encouraging third at his second run in just under 12 months. Silent Achiever was back in seventh place on the rails, improved nicely along the rails on turning for home, going to fourth at the 150m. She then kept fighting well on for a very good fourth beaten three and a half lengths at her first start since April. The favourite Boban travelled quite well midfield but was racing three wide without cover. He fanned wider rounding the home turn and kept running on fairly well, without looking a winning chance to finish fifth. Sertorius ran on quite well over the latter stages for a promising first-up sixth. The disappointments of the race were Messene, who was fifth to the turn but tired for ninth and Moment Of Change, who raced outside the leader to the 600m but weakened to finish last. Post race veterinary examinations of both horses failed to reveal any abnormalities. *ANZ
