Redzel followed his first-up effort in winning the July Sprint (1100m) at Canterbury on 23 July with another strong front-running performance here. After a fast beginning from his outside barrier (12), he set a solid tempo, held a good break on straightening and although tiring, still had enough in hand to win well. The favourite Under The Louvre settled back in tenth place in the 12-horse field, fanned wide rounding the home turn and came with a strong finish for a late-closing second in a good first-up effort. Santa Ana Lane settled back in eighth place, between runners, got along the inner from the 200m and ran on nicely for a good first-up third.
