The favourite Margins raced in sixth place one off the rails. He moved up wide with cover from the 600m, went very wide at the turn before putting in a strong run which took him to the lead at the 200m. The promising four-year-old then drew clear for an easy and quite impressive win, his sixth from 20 starts. Mukaddamah Son was last to the 800m, but saved a lot of ground with a rails run nearing the home turn. He got clear passing the 200m and battled on for second, finding the winner far too good. Trajet was fourth to the 800m, moved up wide approaching the turn and battled on in the straight for third. *ANZ
