Classy sprinter Buffering returned with an impressive first-up win. He began quickly and went straight to the front but was then pressured in the lead (first 600m 34.40). He pinched a break on turning for home and went way to win by just over three lengths in very smart time of 1:08.54. Spirit Of Boom enjoyed a good run in fourth spot following a hectic early pace. He moved up nearing the turn, went to second at the 200m but had no chance with the winner, holding on to take second just in front of the late-closing Albrecht who came from a distant fifth at the 800m for a good third. Listen Son pressured the leader most of the way to the turn and did well to hold on for fourth. Startsmeup came from ten lengths last in the seven-horse field at the 800 to finish fifth while the Victorian Ready To Rip was third to the turn and seemed to have every chance before finishing sixth. *ANZ
