Peter and Paul Snowden-trained mare Secret Trail recorded her first stakes success in 24 starts in scoring here, her fifth win from 24 starts to date. Having her third run this preparation, she settled in sixth place, behind a quick tempo, before improving nicely on straightening. She got to the front at the 100m and then fought back to win well. Anthony Freedman-trained mare Crystal Fountain raced in fifth place, just behind the leaders, got a split at the 200m, challenged shortly afterwards and then fought well for a good second. O'Rachael began well from her outside barrier (13), was eighth early on, before improving after being trapped deep to be third (wide out) at the 700m. She then kept fighting on well for a very good third after a difficult trip. The favourite Anatola went to the front as expected but was pressured in the lead (first 600m 34.88) and found little from the 200m, tiring for (8.1 lengths) 11th.
