The three-year-old colt Shamexpress was ridden well off the pace today and was in front of only two runners in the 13-horse field to the 800m. Craig Newitt got him into the clear passing the 300m and the colt put in a great final burst to win by a short head, putting up an impressive performance. The favourite Moment Of Change led from the 800m and looked the winner when clear at the 200m, but just failed to hold off the three-year-old whom he conceded 6kg. Outsider Aeronautical was second last to the 600m and moved up quickly on the flat side getting to third at the 200m, then battling on for a very good third in a career-best performance. Undeniably was a handy third most of the way to the 200m and held on nicely for fourth with the Queensland three-year-old Better Than Ready, who was about same all the way, holding on well for fifth. The WA pair Luckygray, made some ground for eighth while the previously unbeaten Barakey disappointed tiring for eleventh while the three-time Group One winner Ortensia raced well below her best finishing twelfth, beating only one home. *ANZ
