Space was ridden patiently and remained at the tail of the 11-horse field to the 600m where he was giving the leader about ten lengths. He went to the centre of the track passing the 400m and commenced a strong run to grab the lead nearing the post and won going away by half length. He is a lightly raced and promising stayer. Edgewood was near the rear on the rails to the turn and was blocked for a run in the straight until getting clear at the 200m. He grabbed a narrow lead at the 50m but could not hold off the late closing winner. Tooleybuc Kid was midfield to the turn, put in a run to challenge at the 200m, then fought on nicely for third. *ANZ
