The New Zealand-bred filly Kirramosa raced in last place in the 12 horse field to the 600 metres, where she was giving the leader about 12 lengths. She switched wide passing the 400 metre point and came with a barnstorming finish to race clear to score in the final stages to score decisively by over a length, claiming favouritism for next Thursday’s VRC Oaks (Gr 1, 2500m) in the process. The favourite May’s Dream was ridden patiently in ninth place one off the rails most of the way to the 600 metre point. She moved up to challenge at the 300 metres mark but was overtaken by the winner in the closing stages and fought on for second. Solicit had a good trip in fifth spot on the rails, got an inside run at the turn, went to second at the 300 metres marker and then battled on nicely for third. Arabian Gold was sixth one off the rails most of the way to the 600 metres point. She made her bid rounding the home turn and then fought on for a sound fourth. Gypsy Diamond ran on nicely for fifth while Star Fashion set a solid pace, leading to the 300 metres before tiring to finish sixth. *ANZ
