The Quarterback again showed his affinity for the Flemington straight course with a good first up win here. He settled nicely behind the leading group in seventh place, following a moderate pace (first 600m 35.54). He switched closer to the rails at the 200m, easily took the lead at the 100m and then on to score comfortably, sprinting home in fast time (last 600m 32.53). We’ve Got This raced back in second last place in the nine-horse field, went to the inner at the 100m and although his did not trouble the winner, he fought on nicely for second. Durendal was a handy third, got into clear running at the 200m and then kept fighting on nicely for third. Generalife raced in sixth place, went towards the inside rail at the 200m and then kept fighting on to take an honest fourth. Under The Louvre settled back in the field, behind a steady tempo. The pace picked up noticeably from the 600m and he then kept making ground in the dash home for (3.4 lengths) fifth in a race run in an unsuitable manner for this come-from-behind sprinter. The favourite Faatinah led the field to the 200m but disappointed, then weakening to finish (3.7 lengths) sixth.
