Promising Tony McEvoy-trained colt Azazel scored a good first-up win, taking his record to two wins from five starts to date. With the field racing in the centre of the track, he tracked the leaders in third place before challenging at the 200m. He then finished too well, hit the front at the 50m and went on to win in good style, sprinting home in quick time (last 600m 32.73). Lindsay Park-trained Wait For No One led the field at a steady early tempo, lifted the pace from the 600m and then held on well for second in a sound first-up effort. Cao Cao raced in second place, was under riding at the 200m and fought on in the sprint home for third. Sunquest was fourth most of the way and also held on quite well in the sprint home for (1.6 lengths) fourth while Robbie Laing-trained Frankel My Dear made ground for (1.7 lengths) fifth, putting up a nice effort on debut especially considering the steady early pace. He then sprinted home his last 600m in 32.64 and is a horse to watch.
