Stuart Webb-trained Crown Witness is a very promising sprinting filly and is now unbeaten in two starts. With the field on the straight course again racing in the centre of the track, she travelled in second place, was under riding when the tempo increased from the 600m but she kept battling on gamely and finished too well in the closing stages for a good win, sprinting home in 33.27 (last 600m). Madeenaty went to the front, held a good break after passing the 600m and was only overhauled nearing the post for a good second in a smart first-up effort after conceding 4kg to the winner. The favourite Chateau Griffo raced in sixth place, with cover, before going through to fourth at the 300m. She then kept fighting on in the sprint home (last 600m in 33.39) for a sound third.
