Consistent Joe Pride-trained mare Pecans, who was having her first start since taking out the Belle Of The Turf Stakes (Gr 3, 1600m) at Gosford in December, resumed with a smart first-up win. She was quickly away and settled outside the leader (White Moss), got the better of that runner at the 200m and then fought back gamely to win well. Ghisoni settled in fifth place, but caught three deep, before moving up (under riding) on turning for home and kept running on well to take second, beaten a neck, in a solid second up effort. Invincibella raced in seventh place on the rails, improved between runners, nearing the 200m and kept making ground to take third from Shazee Lee, who came from midfield (along the rails) to challenge at the 200m before fighting on for fourth, just in front of White Moss who held on for (1.4 lengths) fifth after leading until nearing the 200m.
