The favourite Peron ($3.75) began smartly and was second early and was eased to race about sixth (three wide). She moved up well from the 600m and was pushed extremely wide at the home turn. She then put in a good run to take the lead at the 200m and raced clear for an impressive two lengths victory, her sixth win from seven starts. She is a very smart threeyear-old filly. Five-year-old mare Skating On Ice was fifth between runners before improving wide from the 600m. She hit the lead on straightening and battled on well for second. Doubtfilly was eased from her wide barrier (13) and was near last, wide with cover on settling. She made a wide run from the 600m and made up good ground in the straight for an eye-catching late-closing third. Classics had a good trip behind the leader (Bound To Blush), joined the leading division at the turn and seemed to have every chance before finishing fourth. *ANZ
