Iconic was slightly slow away from the gate and settled down sixth one off the fence about five lengths from the leaders Minaj and Kencella who ran along in front stretching the field out over plenty of ground. She improved her position three wide from the 600m before taking the turn four wide, quickening up well on the point of the bend and keeping on well to take the lead at the 50m and just hung on to score by a nose. Angels Beach was good in defeat. She settled in fifth position on the fence just on the back of the speed. She waited on a run and got clear inside the final 150m to finished on resolutely to just miss. A little unlucky. Angelic Light tracked the runner up into the race three back on the fence. She waited for the run on the inside and finished on gamely hard against the rails for a sound third. Shamal Wind was the unlucky runner. Taken back from her wide gate (8) to be four back on the fence. She disappointed for a run a number of times in the straight but finished on well to just miss the placing.
