Dear Demi settled in a nice spot, fourth one out and one back, but she was following a very steady tempo (first 1000m 62.91). The pace picked up from the 600m and she was under pressure but she responded very well. She loomed up at the turn, challenged at the 100m and then finished gamely to score by a short half head, putting up a smart performance. She appears to have returned in peak form and looks set for an excellent spring. Solicit went to the front as expected but she really slowed the pace before sprinting from the 600m. She then fought back well for a close second at only her second run since April. Commanding Jewel raced outside the leader Solicit, was under riding approaching the turn and was found wanting over the final stages to finish third, almost two lengths behind the winner. The outsider Epingle raced in last place in the six-horse field to the 600m and was hard ridden that stage but she ran on particularly well along the rails in the final stages for a very good (3.3 lengths) fourth.
