The Cleaner was ridden patiently from barrier nine in the early stages before crossing to the lead shortly after passing the winning post on the first occasion. He picked up the tempo from the 800m point and was hard ridden nearing the 600m but grabbed a break on turning for home and then stuck on to score by a head in a gutsy front-running performance. Sangster began well from his inside barrier (1) and eased to enjoy a good trip, sixth on the rails. Asked to improve from the 600m he moved through along the rails to be third at the turn. He battled on gamely for a good second, beaten only a head at the post. Mourinho was wide in the early stages before easing to race in second place. He chased the leader home and he kept on to finish a close up third. Mr O’Ceirin was hard ridden from the 600m and plugged on gamely to finish (1.2 lengths) fourth. Precedence was well back in ninth spot on the rails and was hard ridden behind a solid pace from the 600m. He got through to sixth at the turn but was held up for a clear run in the latter stages for a sound (1.3 lengths) fifth. The favourite Signoff was disappointing. He was a distant ninth to the 600m, moved up (wide) under pressure nearing the turn and just kept plugging on to finish (2.6 lengths) ninth.
