Racing against fellow three-year-old fillies at level weights the Magic Millions 2YO Classic (RL, 1200m) winner Houtzen was the $1.35 favourite. She showed her early pace to lead before Jeff Lloyd was able to give her a mid-race breather. She then had enough in hand in the straight to score quite well by a length at the post but she should be improved by the effort, her second run this preparation. Tony McEvoy-trained filly Mintha, a maiden filly having her fourth race start, settled back in seventh place (on the rails) before getting along the inner to be third on straightening. She then ran on really well for a good second, staging a most promising effort. True Excelsior had a good trip from her inside barrier (1) racing in third place on the rails. She went through to second at the home turn and then kept battling on well for third.
