Eight-year-old gelding Lucky Hussler, a dual Group One winner, returned to form with a strong effort at his fourth run this preparation in taking out this Group Two event. He was given a good trip by Blake Shinn back in fifth place, behind a solid tempo (first 1000m 59.11) before coming with a timely move approaching the home turn. He dashed to the front shortly after straightening and then raced away to score by three lengths in the quick time of 1:34.56. Religify was ridden keenly by Hugh Bowman to lead but was then pressured in front (by Burning Front), that pair establishing a clear break on the field. He beat off that rival nearing the home turn but had no answer to the late challenge of the winner and then held on gallantly for second after a difficult trip in the lead. It’s Somewhat raced back in fourth place (on the rails), got along the inner going to third at the 100m and then fought on well to hold the minor placing. Sound Proposition raced back in third place, behind the strong pace, and kept fighting on for (4.3 lengths) fourth while Burning Front contested the lead, only tiring over the latter stages for (5.8 lengths) fifth after a challenging mission.
