Less than a length separated the first four across the line with May’s Dream bursting beaten runners late to score a good win. May’s Dream settled down fourth last between runners. Approaching the home turn Brad Rawiller looked for runs between runners in the middle of the field, the gaps opened and provided the difference in a tight finish. A game effort by the filly and a good right by Rawiller. May’s Dream tracked Star Fashion in the run but that filly fanned wide on cornering. She finished resolutely to only go under by a short head. Scratchy Bottom came from third last with a late charge to be a further head away in third, also a very good effort. Quayside was on the pace before being restrained to settle in third position. She burst through to take the lead at the top of the straight and finished on resolutely for a close fourth, she was deserving of a placing in this Group One race. In Masquerade was not beaten far in fifth. She over-raced in the early stages of the race and stayed on at one pace to only be 1.4 lengths from the winner. *ANZ
