Griante was trapped off the track in sixth position in the early stages of the race forcing Hugh Bowman to move up sharply to improve his position to be in second on the outside of the leading Just A Girl on turning for home. He nursed her into the race and hit the front inside the 200m and responded well to hard ride to hold on from I Love It. I Love It was away well from the gates and settled down in third position one off the fence. She travelled well into the race between runners and finished on strongly when in the clear, without ever threatening the winner. Slots showed good pace and settled down in second position on the fence about two lengths behind the leader. She did not have much room in the straight and kept finding the line to grab third on the line. A solid effort.
