Ruling Dynasty took up a handy position on the rails in third as they left the straight with a round to go. He remained comfortably in third as they passed the 600m then lost his position and was shuffled back to midfield just prior to turning in. At the 300m he appeared to be battling but grabbed the bit again at the 100m to surge underneath Prince Cheri inside the last 50m and win like a good stayer. Junoob had a perfect run, one and one back down the back. Turning in, he found room four widths off the fence and tried to get on terms with the breakaway leader, Prince Cheri, but making little impression. He got into his work inside the last 200 metres to get past the leader, but closer to the rail, the winner had the race sewn up. Prince Cheri led around the turn and made what looked like a winning break with 300m to run but was outgunned, yet held third quite well.
