Japonisme began well and then eased to enjoy a nice trip in third place on the rails, following a good tempo. He stuck to the rails on straightening, challenged at the 200m and finished a bit too well to score a good win. King’s Troop was second in the early stages but drove through from his inside barrier (1) to take the lead on settling. He looked to be travelling strongly coming to the home turn, was challenged at the 200m and then battled back well for second, putting up a solid effort on debut in the Heavy9 conditions. Tatoosh was fifth on the rails, got through to third at the 300m and then fought on well to hold the minor placing.
