The favourite Self Sense settled fourth, one out and one back, in the small six-horse field following a slow early pace (first 800m 50.12). He moved up comfortably on straightening, took the lead at the 200m and went to win impressively in the sprint home (last 600m 34.74) by almost two lengths. Miralago travelled along nicely in fifth place on the rails, before switching out at the 400m. She put in a good run to get to second at the 100m and held that position to the post, putting up a nice effort being unsuited by the sprint-home tactics. Ticket To Toorak was behind the leader to the turn but was shuffled back to fourth at the 200m and ran on fairly well in the latter stages for third. Second favourite Razzle Dazzle Rock did not show any early pace and was last to the turn. He put in a run passing the 400m and made ground for fourth also being disadvantaged by the slow early tempo. *ANZ
