New Zealand Bloodstock (Bm78)
Promising four-year-old Don’t Get Excited has now won five of his ten starts. He was eased early and raced just past midfield, wide with cover. He moved up (wide out) at the 600m, challenged at the 300m, took the lead at the 200m and fought back gamely for a narrow but gutsy win. Bass Strait was last in the ten-horse field before moving up in the centre of the track passing the 400m. He put in a quick run to challenge at the 150m and kept running on well to just miss in a photo. Haussmann was fifth on the rails, got an inside run to challenge at the 400m and then kept fighting on for third, only beaten one length. *ANZ
