Politeness began quickly but was trapped deep from barrier 12 and was then eased to settle back in seventh place, three wide without cover. She improved nicely rounding the home turn, showed a good turn of foot from the 300m, swept to the lead passing the 100m and went on to win impressively by two lengths. Judicial Rock soon crossed to the lead and then steadied the pace (first 1000m 1:02.45) before racing clear at the 400m and was only overhauled at the 75m to finish second. Rose Of Choice travelled well in ninth place, one off the rails, switched out to make her run at the 300m and then made ground in the sprint-home for fourth, without looking a winning chance. The well-supported favourite Estonian Princess was smartly away, had a good run in fourth place and looked dangerous at the home turn But she raced a bit greenly in the straight before finishing a moderate fifth and may go better when returned to racing the Sydney direction.
